In this fourth title in the Women's Murder Club series, San Francisco police lieutenant Lindsay Boxer is on departmental leave following a botched arrest and a killing. Staying at her sister's house in Half Moon Bay, she discovers that a series of brutal murders have been taking place in the quiet community. These crimes may be connected to one of her old unsolved cases. McCormick, also the reader of Patterson's 3rd Degree (2004), has a light, bright voice that matches Boxer's likable personality. Unfortunately, she doesn't do much to distinguish the remaining women characters, and she portrays the males through gruff tones, rapid pacing, or slurred words. Mood music enhances dramatic moments in this audio, which offers plenty of fireworks for Patterson fans. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
