- Booklist Reviews : Booklist Reviews 2016 April #2
Michael's mom tells him that it's time to get dressed. Michael, in turn, tells his dog, Maggie, the same thing. What follows is an opportunity for Michael to practice getting dressed, using Maggie as his model. "Socks go on your feet, Maggie, not in your mouth," Michael says as Maggie plays keep-away with a pair of yellow socks. "Over your head, Maggie," he says of a green shirt with orange stripes. "Other end, girl," he corrects when Maggie tries to put her front paws into a pair of blue pants with big pockets. In her signature pulp-painting style, Fleming presents a concept book on colors and dress-up skills tightly woven into a fun-loving tale about a relationship between a boy and his increasingly silly pup. Fleming captures audience attention with page after page of hilarious scenes aptly combined with large text and color-coordinated words. A terrific pick for storytime.
