Content descriptions

General Note: "A Thomas Dune Book."
Summary, etc.: "This time out, Dixie's got a furry partner-in-crime, an irascible Lhasa Apso named Charlie. They've just arrived at the home of one of Dixie's regular clients to check in on Franklin, a mackerel tabby with avocado-green eyes and a luxuriant coat the color of dried beach grass. Despite a couple of bumps in the road (Franklin seems to be hiding in one of his favorite cubby holes, and Charlie scratches up the parlor door trying to get to the other side), everything else is perfectly normal. That is, until the next day, when Dixie discovers a dead body on the other side of that parlor door, along with a note that seems to suggest she had something to do with it. Soon, there's another victim, and then another note, and Dixie quickly finds herself caught in a maze of mystery and danger, where all the clues have her name written all over them, and where she must find the murderer... before he finds her"-- Provided by publisher.

Dixie Hemingway, catsitter in Siesta Key, Florida, was startled to find the dead body of a local teen in the hallway of a home where she takes care of pets. What's worse is that a note found on the body suggests that Dixie herself was the real target. She learns about another murder at the end of her driveway, with another note threatening Dixie. More mayhem and another murder leave Dixie thinking that running away is the only answer. While trying to elude the killer, Dixie is having trouble dealing with her emotions as her ex-boyfriend Guidry's wedding looms, and many friends are leaving to attend the New Orleans event. The Siesta Key setting, with its beachy attractions, adds a lot of appeal to this intelligently written, always entertaining series. The plot twists rapidly this time, and the authors leave readers with a tantalizing cliff-hanger. A must for fans of pet mysteries. Copyright 2016 Booklist Reviews.
