Summary, etc.: | Four months after the deadliest attack on the American homeland since 9/11, terrorists leave a trail of carnage through London's glittering West End. The attack is a brilliant feat of planning and secrecy, but with one loose thread. The thread leads Gabriel Allon and his team of operatives to the south of France and to the gilded doorstep of Jean-Luc Martel and Olivia Watson. A beautiful former British fashion model, Olivia pretends not to know that the true source of Martel's enormous wealth is drugs. And Martel, likewise, ignores the fact he is doing business with a man whose objective is the very destruction of the West. Together, under Gabriel's skilled hand, they will become an unlikely pair of heroes in the global war on terror. |

Stunning author-narrator pair Silva and Guidall are back, and they do not disappoint. The book picks up where Black Widow ended, with Gabriel Allon now the chief of Israel's Intelligence Service and just enlisted by the British MI6 to take down ISIS leader Saladin. In typical Allon fashion, he creates an impressive team and elaborate plot to draw out Saladin. Set in Britain, Saint-Tropez, and Morocco, this terrorist takedown is full of luxury, glamour, and obscene amounts of money. As Silva's longtime narrator, Guidall falls immediately into the familiar voices of the series charactersâand so will listeners. Guidall provides the background details of the characters and masterfully builds the tension leading to a satisfying climax. The accents and dialects that distinguish the wealth of diverse characters from around the world make the dialogue easy to follow. Guidall expertly draws the listener into Silva's latest alluring spy thriller. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
