Prosper Redding was pretty sure he'd hit rock bottom when he found out he has a demon named Alastor living inside him. Then Alastor's terrifying demon-queen sister kidnapped Prosper's sister, Prue, and took her to the demon realm. Now, suddenly, Prosper and Alastor, who have been at vicious odds with each other, find themselves on the same side, at least for now: Alastor wants power, and Prosper just wants Prue, but they're both going to have to travel through the demon realm to get what they want. Alastor knows the way, and what else can Prosper do but make a deal with him—even if that deal means eternal servitude? But it's been a long time since Alastor's been home, and the place has changed quite a bit. This follow-up to The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding (2017) throws this boy-demon odd couple into an even more precarious position, and madcap, mystical high-jinks ensue. With its balance of magic, humor, and heart, this sequel is a surefire crowd-pleaser. Grades 4-7. Copyright 2018 Booklist Reviews.
