Summary, etc.: "Shell and her two furry sidekicks must cat-ch a killer to save their pet shop. Crishell "Shell" McMillan sees the cancellation of her TV series as a blessing in disguise. The former actress can now take over her late aunt's pet shop, the Purr N' Bark, and do something she loves. While getting the shop ready for re-opening, Shell is asked to loan her aunt's Cary Grant posters to the local museum for an exhibit. She finds the prospect exciting--until a museum board member, who had a long-standing feud with Shell's aunt, votes against it. When she discovers the board member dead in the museum, Shell becomes suspect number one. Can she, her Siamese cat Kahlua, and her new sidekick--her aunt's Persian Purrday--find the real culprit, or will her latest career go up in kitty litter?"--Publisher.

Crishell "Shell" McMillan, an actress on a just-canceled TV spy series, happily relocates to suburban Connecticut to run a pet shop, part of her inheritance from her Aunt Tillie. Shell and her Siamese, KahlĂșa, settle in, making friends with other shop owners, as well as with Purrday, Aunt Tillie's one-eyed white Persian. Shell had been approached about loaning part of her aunt's Cary Grant film-memorabilia collection to the local museum for an exhibit, but she is startled to learn that the board had voted against the loan at the urging of its dominant member, Amelia Witherspoon. The day after Shell confronts Amelia about the decision, Shell goes to the museum to make the appeal again, only to find Amelia's body. Shell, her new friends, and her former costar Gary Presser investigate, with Shell trying to stay on the good side of handsome detective Josh Bloodgood. They quickly learn that Amelia had dirt on many people in town, enlarging the suspect list. Readers who miss Koko and Yum Yum from Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who novels will enjoy Purrday and KahlĂșa in this first of a new series. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
