Juniper Ramírez has been waiting for college pretty much her whole life—and she's got a giant binder of information to prove it. If only her huge family, especially her loving but demanding Tía Sofi, could get on board with her desire to leave home for school. Meanwhile, Fitz Holton's mom is pushing him to tour a bunch of out-of-state schools, but ever since she was confirmed to have the gene for early-onset Alzheimer's, he's planned to live at home. As Fitz begins his tour with the older brother he resents for leaving home, Juniper is starting hers with a boyfriend she feels isn't taking things seriously. Fitz and Juniper's paths continue to cross as they road-trip up and down the East Coast. Though things are rocky at first, a connection slowly starts to form. This post–high school romance, cowritten by the partner-author pair of If I'm Being Honest (2019) (some of those characters make a cameo here!), is measured and thoughtful. A solid pick for older high-schoolers approaching a time of change. Grades 10-12. Copyright 2020 Booklist Reviews.

Author Notes

Raised by a school librarian, Austin's always had a passion for books. He met and fell in love with Emily in high school and attended Harvard University, where he studied English (focusing on Shakespeare). He is currently a UCLA law student; however there's nothing he loves like writing with Emily. Emily has loved writing and story-telling since an age she hardly remembers. Since meeting Austin (she says it was middle school--accounts vary), Emily attended Princeton University as an undergraduate and studied psychology. She is the author of the YA fantasy trilogy the Last Oracle, which was featured in USA Today and was a finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
