Content descriptions

Summary, etc.:
"Vow of Thieves is the thrilling sequel to Dance of Thieves, set in the same world as Mary E. Pearson's New York Times-bestselling Remnant Chronicles. Kazi and Jase have survived, stronger and more in love than ever. Their new life now lies before them - the Ballengers will be outlaws no longer, Tor's Watch will be a kingdom, and Kazi and Jase will meet all challenges side by side, together at last. But an ominous warning mars their journey back, and they soon find themselves captured in a tangled web of deceit woven by their greatest enemies and unlikeliest allies, a place where betrayals run deeper and more deadly than either had thought possible, and where timeless ambitions threaten to destroy them both"--FantasticFiction.com.

*Starred Review* This breathtaking sequel to Dance of Thieves (2018) delivers on the ominous promise made in its predecessor's final pages. Having reached happy arrangements both politically and romantically, soldier-thief Kazi of Brightmist and outlaw leader Jase Ballenger return to the Ballengers' independent kingdom of Tor's Watch only to find it under siege. Within moments, Jase is shot and Kazi captured, and their bright hopes for the future have slipped away. Separated, each not knowing the fate of the other, Kazi and Jase find themselves navigating two very different, treacherous worlds and facing down an enemy they never saw coming. Like Dance of Thieves, this sequel delivers layers of political intrigue and twist after twist; while Jase and Kazi spend much of the book apart and readers may miss their banter, this second volume improves upon its predecessor when it comes to pacing, and both its stakes and its villain are even more ominous. The two volumes work most effectively as a pair—the seeds for this book were planted skillfully throughout the first, but it is here that they take glorious root. Fans of Pearson's Remnant Chronicles will be tuning in, but by now, Kazi and Jase will have surely won hearts of their own. Grades 9-12. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
