Eva has out-of-control hair—big, blond, and curly, and everywhere. That gives big sister Sadie an idea: snip, snip. The joyous pencil-and-watercolor illustrations first show Eva's blond bombshell in its original state, then as curls on the bathroom floor, and finally, in a new shorter 'do. Though the text has plenty of whimsy as well as a solid look at sisterly relations, there could be a bit more tension in the story. After the haircut, it's just a matter of getting the parents on board, though illustrator Allen does do a lot with their exasperated faces. Sadie shares a quiet moment of remorse with her father, but a professional cut makes everything right. Besides, Eva liked it all along! Pair this with Crazy Hair Day, by Victoria Kann (2014), for more hairy fun. Copyright 2014 Booklist Reviews.
