Summary, etc.: Little Tiger is not like other tigers. Not content to spend her days alone, roaming the snow forests of Siberia hunting prey, she prefers instead to ponder the ways of the world. One day, eager to discover her own place within it, she sets out on a remarkable journey to discover the secret of life, and to meet the creatures she has heard most about: humans. A moving tale of bravery and spirit, The Tiger and the Acrobat is a celebration of the power of friendship, and a testament to the courage it takes to be true to ourselves.

As a cub in the Siberian taiga, Little Tiger tried to follow her mother's teachings. She learned about the dangers of the river in winter and how to hunt for life-sustaining prey. But one lesson seemed to have eluded her. Humans, her mother warned, were to be avoided at all costs. Yet for Little Tiger, humans held an alluring fascination. So it was that she befriended a woodcutter, even living in his cabin until she was captured by hunters, who transported her to a circus. There she met a young acrobat who helped her define her dreams and escape captivity. Back in the wild, Little Tiger gains wisdom and understanding, not only of her own true nature but of the essence of all life and the healing powers of time's passage. Enhanced by enchanting pencil illustrations, best-selling Italian writer Tamaro's beguiling parable is a paean to the power of friendship and a testament to the resiliency of the individual spirit, whatever form the body takes.
