Content descriptions

Summary, etc.:
"A woman trying to outrun her past is drawn to a quiet coastal town in Maine--and to a string of unsolved murders--in this haunting tale of romantic suspense from New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen."-- Provided by publisher.
After an unspeakable tragedy, Ava Collette flees from Boston to a remote village in Maine, and rents an old house named Brodie's Watch. The isolated seaside mansion is peaceful-- until she glimpses the long-dead sea captain who still resides there. One night Ava confronts the apparition of Captain Jeremiah Brodie. He feels all too real, and he welcomes her into his world-- and into his arms. Even as Ava questions her own sanity, she looks forward to the captain's ghostly visits. But she learns that every woman who has ever lived in Brodie's Watch has also died there. Is the ghost of Captain Brodie responsible, or is a flesh-and-blood killer at work? -- adapted from jacket
Reviews

  • Booklist Reviews : Booklist Reviews 2019 August #1
Gerritsen steps away from her popular detective procedurals with this stand-alone romantic-suspense title, this time adding a paranormal touch. Food writer Ava escapes to a vacation home on a remote Maine peninsula, ostensibly to find the peace and solitude she needs to finish her latest cookbook. But she's also escaping trouble in her recent past, which pales in comparison to the events that unfold when she arrives at the house, which is haunted by the ghost of a sea captain. The coastal town holds secrets, and so does Ava, and the supernatural presence is determined to bring them all to light. A quick read that will appeal to fans of the genre.
